Introduction

 For consultants and trainers generally, 2009 has not been the best year in history! However, CIP has kept its head above water and is not yet in fear of drowning!! A slightly quieter year has enabled us to catch up on a number of outstanding tasks that, of necessity, we had previously had to postpone. We have also taken the opportunity to catch up with old acquaintances and to increase our own emphasis on Networking and Training to keep ourselves up to date!

 Obviously (but unfortunately!), due to client confidentiality, there are certain activities which cannot be reported in our Annual Newsletter.

 At the beginning of June 2009 we were at Automechanika in Dubai again ~ a show that has proved to be a good medium for us in the past. Although the number of visitors was down, we still had an impressive number of serious discussions with people genuinely interested in CIP. For business to develop from such new contacts always takes time, but we are still in serious negotiations with a number of those contacts and are confident that it will, again, have been a worthwhile venture for us. We also used the opportunity to keep in touch with a number of existing clients from around the region.

 Dubai ~ Motor Show

We attended the Dubai Motor Show again in December 2009. We felt the number of overall visitors was down but the quality of people visiting our joint stand (with Auto Strategies) was very encouraging and we had a good number of very positive meetings which we are currently pursuing.

 We are planning to return for the Commercial Vehicle show in March and have been asked to support the concurrent Seminar with a presentation about the Continuous Improvement Process as it is considered so relevant to helping businesses to become more efficient and profitable, particularly during the current unsettled times.

 Our good relations with clients in Saudi are progressing well and we continue to be on a long term retainer for 24/7 support to one of our key clients in the country. This is a very interesting ongoing project for us as we have become close to the client over a period of a few years now and understand the company’s needs and aspirations. With another visit to our client planned for early 2010, we are hoping that this will lead to further contracts on site in Saudi as the business continues to build.

 Beating the Recession

Many of you will have received mailings from us concerning the necessity to streamline each department in the company so that inefficiencies are reduced to a minimum and costs are contained to help maximise both profits and, most importantly, customer satisfaction which, in turn, leads to customer retention.

 The CIP Programme is designed to achieve just those aims and our mailings have received an impressively positive response. This has been helped by our Guarantee which offers to refund the consultancy fees if the costs of the exercise are not recouped in the first few months after implementing the programme. We are that confident! And, justifiably so, as we have never had to give a refund to any of our clients.

Training / Networking

During the year we have spent more time than usual attending training courses and networking events to broaden our own base (Continuously Improving ourselves!!) in order to help us give even better value to you ~ our clients.

 Software

 We have been instrumental in introducing a dealership software package to one of our clients in Kuwait which has proved itself to be well suited to the task for which it was designed and is helping to improve the efficiency and smooth running of the operation.

Recruitment

 During the year we recruited Service staff from the UK for a client in Kuwait to help improve after-sales efficiencies and vehicle diagnostics.

 Diploma in Applied Business Studies ~ Automotive

Towards the end of 2009 we finalised an agreement with a UK & European training provider (BDS Europe ~ www.bds-europe.com) to represent them in most countries in the Middle East Region. This Diploma is accredited by the IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry), CMI (Chartered Management Institute) and University of Worcester.

 We particularly like the syllabus as it has a very practical theme and involves participants actually putting into practice case studies specifically targeted to their particular work environment ~ this is a conditional part of the course. Data collected over a period proves that the average increased profit earned by participants within their dealership is over £50,000 in the first year after qualifying for the Diploma.

 Among others using the syllabus for dealers in Europe are Mercedes and MAN.
