 1) CIP PROGRAMME ~ During the first half of this year we spent 4 weeks at a large franchised distributor in the Middle East. Their problem (!!) was that sales had increased considerably over the past couple of years, thus putting increasing pressure on their service outlets. This was leading to long lead times and dissatisfied customers. We spent a week at each of three of their larger workshops carrying out the Continuous Improvement Process. The sum result was that lead times were reduced, customers became much happier, employee morale improved and it was proved that profits from those three workshops alone would increase by the equivalent of approximately 3 million pounds sterling over the following twelve months. If the Programme is Continuously reviewed, profits will continue to climb thereafter. Thus a win-win situation all round! ~ Customers, Staff and Owners.

The Process has ALWAYS been successful during the 20 years plus in which we have been conducting it ~ this success is enhanced by the fact that we use a small team of your own people to ensure that any suggested solutions would be practical within your own environment AND the fact that we are an “outside” pair of eyes which have not become familiar with the current norms within your environment, and therefore may see some activities which have previously become overlooked or accepted.

If any of you are experiencing similar problems within your own workshops, or would like to improve efficiencies and customer satisfaction, please contact us (info@cipauto.com) so we can discuss the most effective way of improving the situation for yourselves within your own environment.

2)  IT SUPPORT ~ CIP has recently teamed up with a 2-part company specialising in giving IT support to the automotive industry. See details of each arm of the company below:

2a) 22PointSix is a full-service web and digital marketing agency that specialises in meeting the needs of the ever-growing automotive sector. They know from experience that a quick fix rarely produces lasting and meaningful results so all their services aim to deliver solutions that will not only impact your business now but far into the future too.

Like their sister-company, BDM Voice (see below), they are an automotive-centric business that has worked very closely with a number of their existing clients to build a range of digital solutions to meet the needs of manufacturers, dealers and dealer groups internationally.

Their coveted MotorsCMS platform allows them to build bespoke, modular automotive websites that give full control back to the dealer group and affords them the opportunity to achieve Maximum Exposure, Return on Investment and Market Penetration.

Customer retention is a key focus for most automotive dealers and manufacturers and many of these customers will be won or lost online. With Google reporting 11% more online searches for aftersales and parts than used vehicles, MotorsCMS quickly identified an opportunity to build a sophisticated online, multi-channel parts and accessories retail solution. Their infiniteCart Parts e-commerce platform helps manufacturers and dealerships meet the ever-increasing consumer demand for buying parts and accessories online. 2b) BDM Voice is one of the UK’s leading providers of integrated ‘voice’ and business development solutions. Incorporated back in 2002 and initially supplying the automotive sector with just call recording products, they quickly began to diversify their automotive-specific offerings to include targeted, outbound contact centre telephone campaigns. Their in-house team, on average, delivers in excess of 150,000 calls a month on behalf of manufacturers and dealer groups across the UK. From the platform of this success, they are now expanding their business to give worldwide support.

Their highly-successful contact centre team helps their clients to improve their return on investment, reduce their lost sales opportunities and improve overall operational efficiency.

Through their in-house contact centre they can produce significant numbers of meaningful appointments for sales and service on a daily basis. Working directly with manufacturers and dealers has given them the ability to produce appointments quickly and efficiently, thus helping their clients to consistently meet their monthly and quarterly objectives. 3) AUTOMECHANIKA DUBAI ~ As usual, Ian visited this event in June and spent a very productive 10 days in Dubai meeting a large number of customers, associates and contacts ~ a very productive way to meet so many of our friends from a variety of countries, but in one location!

Some very productive and positive meetings were held and it is obviously hoped that these will lead to additional business and associations over the next few months.

4) Operating System for small companies

Motor Trade ~ Operating System (CIP) by ASSOCIATE Peter Kerridge

Over the years, a simple Operating System has been developed for our clients and whilst we understand that computers and high tech software are obviously of great demand, it is surprising the number of clients who do not wish to make the investment in sophisticated OS systems and there is still a requirement to provide clients with a simple XL based system,

Of course nowadays, the benefits to the motor trade of computers, are that parts can be ordered for the JIT requirements, together with the maintenance of accounts and customer records.

However, all businesses have to be run by management – indeed all employees – on an honest basis where sales and costs are recorded with diligence and honesty. And this is where this OS is so useful, because it can be used as a real – ready reckoner (or instant reminder) for the up to date, current situation concerning all departments, such as labour, parts, new and used cars, general expenses, overheads, etc.

How does this OS help? In discussions with team leaders and department heads, it is essential not to waste time and this is were this OS is so valuable.

Once forecasts / budgets have been formalised for the beginning of a year, the company’s direction is known for each department.  So all that has to be done, using this OS is to put in the actual known figures into the OS and this in turn allows one to see any +s

or -s of the current and previous months. This being the case, action can be taken to correct any shortfall or to take advantage of any growth.

With the demand of such an XL based system still relevant we are exploring developing it further and below is a copy of a sample page.

If you have a demand for such an OS then please register your interest so we can keep you in touch with the latest version.
